New York’s New SLEEP Bill Aims To Stop Illegal Drag Racing

To combat this nuisance, Governor Kathy Hochul recently signed into law the SLEEP bill, which stands for “Stop Loud and Excessive Exhaust Pollution”.

Fines were immediately increased from $150 to $1,000 on vehicles bearing louder exhausts and other such noise-inducing modifications.
