State Police Announce Start Of “Speed Week” Enforcement Campaign

Did you know that traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for people ages 3 to 33, and that speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one third of all those fatal crashes?

It's hard to believe, but more than 42,000 people die as the result of traffic crashes each year on our nation's highways with hundreds of thousands being seriously injured.

New York State Police will be doing its part by conducting a week-long enforcement initiative to crack down on speeding and aggressive drivers across the state.

The “Speed Week” campaign starts today and runs through Wednesday, June 13.

By simply slowing down, following the posted speed limits, and putting away our electronic devices, we all can help "reduce the number of motor vehicle accidents and increase the chances of everyone making it to their destinations safely.”
