What To Do If You Hit A Deer
Here’s something we don’t think about too often…there have been 1,023 deer-vehicle collisions in New York so far this year, and late fall will see even more.
According to the State Police, if you're driving and a deer enters the roadway, don't attempt to swerve, as you're more likely to strike another vehicle or exit the roadway.
If you do hit a deer, you should remain at the scene and call 911. Police can complete an accident report at the scene if the vehicle has over $1,000 in damage or a person in the vehicle has been injured.
